Lt. Gen. John A. Toolan, right, speaks with Sgt. Robert L. Ponder Dec. 13 at Camp Schwab during a special brunch event. The brunch fostered camaraderie and gave junior Marines the opportunity to talk to senior leadership. The event began with generals from multiple commands shaking hands and speaking with the junior Marines present. The junior Marines were encouraged to ask questions of their commanders to gain a better insight into the Marine Corps’ role in the Asia-Pacific region. Toolan is the commander of U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific. Ponder is an intelligence analyst with the 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
