Retired Lt. Cmdr. David Neel speaks before an audience at Air Station Kodiak, Alaska, Dec. 19, 2014, about his firsthand account of the HH-60 Jayhawk crash with his crew aboard, along with seven mariners, while responding to the grounding of the vessel Selendang Ayu. The Selendang Ayu, a 738-foot freighter, ran aground and broke in two near Unalaska in 2004 and resulted in safety and training improvements for Coast Guard aircrews.
