New Zealand Defence Force soldiers, 1st New Zealand Brigade, and U.S. Army Soldiers, 25th Infantry Division, sweep the road ahead to ensure their path is safe and clear of improvised explosive devices during Exercise Kiwi Koru Nov. 14, 2014, outside of Whangamomona, New Zealand. Exercise Kiwi Koru training elements included combat lifesaver training, Law of Armed Conflict scenarios, counter improvised explosive device training and a force-on-force tactical exercise. Approximately 60 Soldiers from the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks and 40 Marines from I Marine Expeditionary Force trained alongside approximately 600 New Zealand Defence Force soldiers from the 1st New Zealand Brigade. Kiwi Koru helps maintain a high level of interoperability and enhances military-to-military relations and combat capabilities. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Christopher Hubenthal)
