    First Army built ETU opens in Buchanan

    The Buchanan Ebola Treatment Unit stands completed after being built by Soldiers of the 902nd Engineer Battalion, out of Grafenwoehr, Germany, in support of 36th Engineer Brigade and the Joint Forces Command – United Assistance as part of Operation United Assistance, Nov. 21, 2014. The Buchanan ETU is one of seventeen facilities scheduled to be established by the Department of Defense in support of the U.S. Agency for International Development. This ETU is the first built completely by the Army. Operation United Assistance is a Department of Defense operation in Liberia to provide logistics, training and engineering support to USAID-led efforts to contain the Ebola virus outbreak in western Africa.
