Daniel Torrecampo participates in an exercise called "Acid River" at the STARBASE Academy in Sacramento, Calif., in 2006. Students were given a certain number of wooden blocks and were expected to use them to cross an "acid river." The purpose of the exercise was to practice teamwork and collaboration. Today, Torrecampo is a sophomore at UC Davis where he is double majoring in aerospace engineering and mechanical engineering. (Photo courtesy Daniel Torrecampo)
