Sascha Jean Jansen, who as a child was a prisoner of war in the Philippines during World War II, speaks to Airmen and honored guests at Travis AFB, Calif., during a POW/MIA remembrance ceremony Sept. 19, 2014. Jansen recalled years of imprisonment by her Japanese captors, and the joy she and other prisoners felt as they looked to the sky to witness American Airmen obliterating enemy fighters. She also called upon all Airmen to never forget the importance of their uniform and how it serves as a beacon of hope for those who look to them for help and the preservation of freedom.
