Sailors assigned to the Role 3 Multinational Medical Unit on Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, started their day with a ceremony celebrating the 239th birthday of the U.S. Navy in the foyer of the hospital, Oct. 13, 2014. The ceremony included the ringing of a bell eight times to signify the end of the watch for the old year followed by the ringing of the bell once representing the new watch and new year.
