Chief Machinist Mate Clarence Early, the newest chief petty officer at the Submarine Force Museum and Library and Historic Ship Nautilus, carries the Nautilus 60th anniversary flag to be flown on the the boat's sail. The crew of the museum and guests celebrated 60 years since the commissioning of the nuclear powered submarine USS Nautilus (SSN 571). Nautilus, the first nuclear vessel, was a record breaker and pioneer, serving in the navy for 25 years before being retired as a national historic landmark and becoming part of the museum.
