III Marine Expeditionary Force   

Marines set up a medium-machine gun position Aug. 27 during military operations on urbanized terrain training at the Central Training Area on Okinawa, Japan. MOUT is combat conducted in urban areas, such as cities or towns. Urban combat is different from combat in an open area at both the tactical and operational levels. The Marines are with 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.
