Command Sgt. Maj. Luther Thomas Jr., command sergeant major of the Army Reserve, kicked off the 80th TC's Total Army School System Training Command/Proponent workshop by addressing a room full of senior noncommissioned officers from across the 80th in Danbury, Conn., Sept. 9, 2014. Thomas, who also received an 80th TC command coin from Wills, told the crowd that it's important to grow leaders. "If there's nobody available to take your place, then that tells me you haven't been teaching coaching and mentoring," said Thomas, who also talked about issues that included re-enlistments, promotions, and retention. The purpose of the four day workshop is to train on key readiness indicators, proven management techniques and practices to improve the command's overall readiness posture.
