Retired U.S. Navy Lt. j.g. Laura Roote tests out the 1-mile road circuit at the Lee Valley VeloPark as she and her team prepare for the upcoming Invictus Games. Roote said it was exciting meeting the other players from different countries. “I’m sure on gameday, there’ll be some rivalries, but so far we’ve just been making friends,” Roote said. Over 400 competitors from 13 nations will take part in the Invictus Games, an international sporting event for wounded, injured and sick service members.
