Retired Master Chief Petty Officer Vince Patton, the eighth master chief petty officer of the Coast Guard, laughs with Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Steven W. Cantrell at Cantrell’s residence in Arlington, Va., Aug. 27, 2014. Cantrell, the current (12th) master chief petty officer of the Coast Guard, and his wife, Janet, were hosting a barbecue for enlisted assignment officers as a way to foster fellowship and enhance the relationship between senior enlisted leaders and those AOs who are responsible for executing transfer orders for enlisted members.
