Chief Explosive Ordnance Disposal Michael Solis of Camden, N.J., a member of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division inspects the crimping technique of Marine Sgt. Byron Cheek-Enriques of Aiea, Hawaii, a team leader with 4th Force Reconnaissance Company, 1st platoon, as Cheek-Enriques connects a blasting cap to a shot of time fuse and a fellow Marine observes during demolition training at the Kaneohe Bay Range Training Facility Aug. 20, 2014. Solis, an explosive ordnance disposal and demolition expert, helped augment the 4th Force Reconnaissance Company’s two-week annual training period as part of a Navy training team comprised of two other explosive ordnance disposal members and an ordnance clearance diver. During their annual training period in Hawaii, more than 130 4th Force Reconnaissance Company Marines conducted exercises including live fire and demolition, small boat operations and scout swimming, and infiltration and ambush. The annual training period culminated in two days of full mission profiles that combined all the training elements into day and night operations for each platoon.
