Gunnery Sgt. Robert J. Fertal (right), the company gunnery sergeant for Company G, 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, and native of Cleveland, Ohio, and Lance Cpl. Alex Yu, a rifleman for Company G, and native of Dundalk, Md., compete in the bungee run as part of the Spartan Cup, battalion field meet Aug. 14, 2014, aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C. More than a dozen events, spanning the entire day, pitted company against company for bragging rights and the Spartan Cup trophy. The event also included a barbecue and entertainment, such as bounce houses and hula-hoop competitions, for the families in attendance. The event gave service members a chance to introduce their families to the unit, while building unit cohesion through athletic competition.
