U.S. Marines, Provost Marshal's Office, Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, turn the corner of a simulated airport terminal with their guns drawn during an active shooter drill, at Marine Corps Outlying Field (MCOLF) Atlantic, N.C., Aug. 12, 2014. The purpose of their training was to prepare Military Police Officers, both military and civilian, as well as Security Augment Forces, how to react during an active shooter situation in urban terrain. Marines and Civilians used Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) tactics and trained to move towards the noise of gun fire and not stop until the shooter has been neutralized and the situation is deemed safe.
