Lt. Andrew Foor, a Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Naval Science Instructor (NSI) at Savannah State University in Savannah, Ga., works with ship navigation video gaming computer software at a MSS Summit hosted by Naval Service Training Command (NSTC) on Naval Station Great Lakes, August 6. MSS is a tool that enables NROTC midshipman an opportunity to study and learn basic navigation and virtually navigate U.S. Navy ships in and out of harbors and ports in real time. The video gaming software is being looked at for use by the NROTC unit at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona, Fla. NSTC, which oversees the NROTC program, is working to get the MSS software installed at more than 150 colleges and universities either host NROTC units or have cross-town enrollment agreements with a host university.
