Lance Cpl. Sean Callahan, a manning support specialist with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force South, and a native of Sayreville, N.J., fires on his target during the first combat marksmanship live-fire held aboard the future amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), July 28, 2014. The purpose of the shoot was to refresh the Marines’ shooting skills to prepare them for their bi-lateral exchange in Brazil. Bi-lateral exchanges with our partners strengthen the relationships that facilitate the cooperation needed in the event of a crisis requiring a multinational effort. SPMAGTF-South is currently embarked aboard America on her maiden transit dubbed, “America Visits the Americas”. The ship is scheduled to be commissioned in San Francisco, Oct. 11.
