Staff Sgt. Briand T. Williams Memorial Highway dedication

Cook County, Ga., residents gathered, July 26, for the unveiling of the Staff Sgt. Briand T. Williams Memorial Highway marker. The signs will be placed at various locations on Highway 76, which runs through Sparks, Ga., and end at the Brooks County, Ga., line. Williams was killed in action Nov. 22, 2009, while serving with Battery B, 1st Battalion, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Williams, a native of Sparks, had always dreamed of joining the Army, and was often referred to as "Sergeant Will" by his fellow Soldiers.
