Sharyn Peterson, the director of the Mt. Baker and Fidalgo Youth Symphonies, conducts and leads the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band in the playing of “Stars and Stripes” July 27, at the Seattle Center during Marine Week Seattle 2014. Peterson volunteered to conduct the band when the opportunity was given to the audience by the band’s original conductor. Marine Week Seattle showcases Marine Corps equipment, aircraft and technological capabilities to the general public. More than 700 Marines are participating in Marine Week Seattle to give Seattleites the opportunity to meet the individual Marine and celebrate community, country and Corps.
