Private First Class Brendan Matos (left), a 19-year-old native of Saratoga, N.Y., and Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, positions a boom designed to trap oil in water as part of a week-long training course designed to increase proficiency in nautical spill response procedures aboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, July 17. The course enabled the students to evaluate environmental and nautical conditions and tactics in order to hastily respond to an oil spill in the waterways leading to MCAS Beaufort.
