A U.S. Marine gives a safety brief to Republic of Korea marines, Indonesian Korps Marinir, and U.S. Marines, from India Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, before beginning training at Range 8C’s “Shoot House” during the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise 2014. RIMPAC promotes closer military-to-military bonds to facilitate clear lines of communication and foster a spirit of cooperation to meet regional and global challenges for mutual benefit. Twenty-two nations, 49 ships and six submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 26 to Aug. 1 in and around the Hawaiian Island and Southern California. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity that helps foster and sustains the cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans.
