Marines and Sailors of the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force, II Marine Expeditionary Force participate in Exercise Scarlet Response at Guardian Centers in Perry, Ga., July 22. CBIRF personnel are trained to exercise command and control, agent detection and identification, search, rescue and decontamination, and emergency care for contaminated personnel. During Scarlet Response, the Marines and Sailors are testing their ability to detect radiation, locate casualties, conduct vehicle extrication, and perform decontamination of simulated casualties that have resulted from a mock nuclear explosion in a major U.S. city.
