The Maine Army National Guard provided aviation support to the Knox County Emergency Management Agency and the Maine Forest Service during a simulated wildfire exercise on Criehaven Island. The overall mission brought a 400 gallon capacity water tank to the island, which has no other firefighting capabilities, other than buckets. Criehaven is an unorganized township in Maine. With approximately 45 seasonal residents it is a little over a square mile in size and about 18 miles from the Knox County mainland, making it the outermost inhabited island in the lower 48 states.
