Latvian Pvt. 1st Class Maris Debels plans his route before beginning a land navigation exercise at Adazi, Latvia, June 30. Latvian soldiers received instructions from paratroopers with the 173rd Airborne Brigade on plotting a course with a map, compass and protractor. Approximately 600 paratroopers from the brigade are in the Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland as part of an unscheduled land-forces exercise to demonstrate commitment to NATO obligations and sustain interoperability with allied forces.
