South Carolina National Guard Sgt. Wesley Brantley, a medic with 1st Battalion, 118th Infantry Headquarters and Headquarters Support, helps someone with simulated injuries during a training exercise June 30, 2014, at McCrady Training Center. During the exercise, military and civilian agencies joined forces to respond to a simulated downed aircraft. They were faced with a variety of injuries from simple cuts and scrapes to severe injuries and even deaths that would result if this were a real scenario. The purpose of the exercise was to evaluate policies, procedures, equipment and personnel while providing the military and civilian agencies another opportunity to collaborate in preparation for potential emergencies.
