Maj. José R. Gomez, a dentist with the 335th Medical Company/49th Multifunctional Medical Battalion based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is assisted by Spc. Taylor Benton, a dental technician with the 810th Med. Co. (Det) /49th MMB based in Charleston, S.C., as they work with Gia Wells, a Cairo, Ill. resident during Innovative Readiness Training exercise Southern Care 2014. The purpose of the civil-military program IRT SC14 is to improve military readiness while providing quality services at no cost to residents of Southern Illinois.
