A convoy of support vehicles, carrying various support personnel, equipment and supplies, arrive at the Georgetown County Airport on June 3, 2014, to participate in a hurricane preparedness exercise with local emergency first responders to kick-off the first week of the hurricane season. U.S. Air Force Airmen from the South Carolina Air National Guard work side-by-side with the S.C. Emergency Management Division and first responders from local emergency agencies to effectively respond to any hurricane that may threaten the state. The exercise scenario involves a hurricane post-landfall response between federal, state and local agencies, which includes training in communications and first responder skills, with a focus on how to better protect and assist citizens during emergency situations.
