A participant emerged from the final mud pit before the finish line during the Mud Run at Lake O'Neill May 31. The Mud Run, which is in its 22nd year here, tested the skills of many of the participants with new obstacles added this year like the lunge station, combat town fog, a longer low crawl section and the sandbag overhead pass. Also new this year, the event offered a 5k alternative to the standard 10k course and carnival-style rides.
