U.S. Army Sgt. Julio Ortiz, a paratrooper assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade and a native of Corpus Christi, Texas, breaks open a locked barrier with a battering ram during breaching training May 29, 2014, at a military training area near Drawsko-Pomorskie, Poland. The assaulting force behind Ortiz is made up of allied paratroopers from the U.S. Army, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, and Poland’s 6th Airborne Brigade. The 173rd Airborne Brigade has approximately 600 paratroopers in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland training with NATO allies to demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO allies and sustain interoperability.
