The late Col. Francis A.I. "Miki" Bowers Jr. was known as the malasada man at the annual Punahou High School carnival. Bowers was recognized by the community, various schools and the Hawaii Army National Guard as a great example of a citizen-Soldier. The Wahiawa armory was renamed after him during a memorialization ceremony May 4, 2014 at Wahiawa, Hawaii.
