Erica Gunnison, wife of 3rd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment's commander, Lt. Col. Paul Gunnison, calls in a 9-Line medical evacuation, April 26, during the squadron's Spouses' Spur Ride. Gunnison, and nearly 30 other spouses and significant others from 3rd Sqdn., 1st Cav. Regt., 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, reported for duty at Sledgehammer Field. The women were placed into teams, based on their husband's assigned troop, and marched to various lanes throughout Kelley Hill, where they had to fire weapons during a simulated range, don a pro-mask during a chemical attack, provide aid to a casualty while preparing him for a medical evacuation, react to contact while calling for fire, and answer cavalry-related questions during a Spur Board.
