U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Stephen Schwarz, 303rd Expeditionary Rescue Squadron flight engineer, observes the area below his HH-60G Pave Hawk during a flight over Djibouti. It's the flight engineer's job to ensure the aircraft is operational and able to respond quickly if an in-flight emergency occurs. The 303rd ERQS, Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, conducts continuous personnel recovery activities to enable regional actors to neutralize and counter violent extremist organizations within East Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.
