Dr. Joe Myers, Belize Agricultural Health Authority veterinarian, left, and Karel Heredia, Belize Public Health representative, discuss the vaccination of local animals on the final day of a veterinary readiness training exercise, or VETRETE, April 17, 2014, in Libertad, Belize. Goals of the VETRETE included providing ample training for U.S. and Belizean veterinary technicians, as well as to boost meat production of the local livestock. The VETRETE was held in conjunction with a medical readiness training exercise, or MEDRETE, which offered U.S. and Canadian military doctors and nurses the opportunity to train and interact with their Belizean counterparts while providing medical care to the community.
