Crew members of the Military Sealift Command container ship MV Cape Ray (T-AKR 9679) secure the pod containing the life raft portion of the marine evacuation system to the base unit. The system is a life-saving device found on many modern passenger ships consisting of an inflatable slide or escape chute where the crew can rapidly evacuate into awaiting life raft.
