Chris Rodriguez, starting pitcher for the Lejeune Devilpups, throws the ball during their baseball game against the East Carteret High School Mariners aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, March 28. The Lejeune Devilpups struggled to hit the ball throughout the game, ultimately resulting in a 7-1 loss against the Mariners. When asked about the loss, Martin Ortega, third baseman for the Lejeune Devilpups responded, “It’s important for us to stay strong. Of course we were down, but we didn’t have a choice, we kept pushing no matter what. In my eyes it’s important to show strength even when you’re down.”
