Staff Sgt. Ken Ebo, an instructor at the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach, Va., and trombone player for the Marine Corps Jazz Ensemble, speaks to students during a concert March 5 at Queens College’s Aaron Copland School of Music. Ebo, from Aiken, S.C., was hand-picked by Gunnery Sgt. Jonathan Bley, the musician placement director for the 1st Marine Corps District, along with five other Marine musicians to make up the ensemble and perform at several high schools and universities in the Greater New York City and Boston areas with exceptional music programs to promote the Corps’ Musician Enlistment Option Program.
