Amphibious assault vehicles exit USS Ashland well deck

An amphibious assault vehicle with Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, splashes out the well deck of the USS Ashland (LSD-48) during a night splash and recovery exercise, March 1. The 31st MEU recently embarked aboard the three ships of the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) Amphibious Ready Group for their regularly-scheduled Spring Patrol. The 31st MEU is the Marine Corps’ force of choice for the Asia-Pacific region and is the only continuously forward-deployed MEU. (Official U.S. Marine Corps Photo by Sgt. Jonathan G. Wright)
