After taking his post, Sgt. Maj. Paul Archie thanks God for his successful career during a relief and appointment ceremony for the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island and Eastern Recruiting Region sergeant major Feb. 21, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. Archie replaced Sgt. Maj. Gary Buck, who retired after 29 years of service from the Marine Corps.
