During her visit to Okinawa, Kennedy met with Hirokazu Nakaima, governor of Okinawa, laid flowers at Okinawa Peace Memorial Park, toured Marine Corps installations, and expressed hope to “work as much as possible to build peace.” Stann is the acting FRF program manager. Kennedy is the daughter of John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the U.S., and she is the first female to be appointed as a U.S. ambassador to Japan.
