Rct. Antone Sprague, a 19-year-old native of Fort Myers, Fla., is currently training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., in hopes of earning the title of United States Marine. Sprague is training with Platoon 1010, Bravo Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, and is scheduled to graduate Feb. 28, 2014. “I joined the Marine Corps because me and my best friend have always [sought] challenges physically and mentally, and me and him decided this would be the best way to find that challenge and to seek self-improvement and adventure,” said Sprague, who graduated from North Fort Myers High School in 2013. Approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for 50 percent of males and 100 percent for females in the Marine Corps. (Photo by Cpl. Octavia Davis)
