I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) Deploys to Afghanistan

Maj. Erich Schloegl, a protocol officer with I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), from Portland, Ore., says goodbye to his family moments before departing Camp Pendleton, Calif., Jan. 13. Nearly 140 of the I MEF (Fwd) command element’s 300 Marines and Sailors said goodbye to family and friends as the departed for Camp Leatherneck and Camp Bastion in Afghanistan.
