Coast Guard, CBP interdict marijuana, methamphetamine at sea [Image 2 of 2]
The Seattle-based Coast Guard Cutter Mellon cruises on the horizon as a suspected drug-smuggling panga lies drifting in international waters approximately 170 miles southwest of San Diego, Jan. 3, 2014. The crew of the Mellon and the San Diego-based Coast Guard Cutter Sea Otter recovered approximately 3,500 pounds of marijuana and more than 30 pounds of methamphetamine during interdiction of the suspected smuggling vessel.
