The first ever take-off of a V-22 Osprey aboard the USS Ashland (LSD-48), underway in the Leyte Gulf, Philippines. Aviation Boatswain's Mate Handling Airman Jennifer L. Confer, of Buffalo, NY, directs the first-ever launch of this type aircraft aboard. ABHAN Confer is the Landing Signalman Enlisted member chosen to direct this operation.
