A member of the Kandahar Fire Department fire rescue team stands watch for safety as the 451st Air Expeditionary Wing Safety Office Bird Aircraft Strike Hazard program members burn weeds in a pond on Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, Sept. 24. The 451 AEW Safety Office worked with the KAF Fire Department to burn the weeds on the pond and remove a habitat for birds. Reducing bird habitats around KAF will decrease the possibility of bird strikes for aircraft operating here. (U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Jake Sanders)
