A C-17 Globemaster III from the 437th Airlift Wing, Joint Base Charleston, S.C., advances to make contact with a KC-135 Stratotanker from the 22nd Air Refueling Wing, McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., Oct. 4, 2013, during a refueling mission over Kentucky. Depending on the aircraft model and mission requirements, McConnell AFB’s tankers can hold more than 170,000 pounds of fuel for refueling operations.
