Light from illuminating flares provide CH-53E Super Stallion pilots enough light to land safely during an integrated training exercise aboard Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., Sept. 23. These flares can provide regular light, used to land aircraft safely or orient Marines on the ground; or they can provide infrared light allowing our forces an advantage over the enemy with night vision goggles.
