An instructor at Women's Literacy Program in Ramadi teaches to a class of women, July 6. Women's Literacy Programs are taking place daily throughout the city of Ramadi. The programs were designed to educate illiterate women on the essential skills of reading and writing in Arabic, while also teaching the more educated women basic English. "We teach on three levels," said a male Iraqi instructor. "The first level is for the people who basically don't know how to read or write. The second level is for the ones who know how to read and write, but require more education so they can become proficient. The third level is for the women who are proficient in the Arabic language and desire to learn the fundamentals of basic English."
