Airman 1st Class Curtis Grimes, 386th Expeditionary Security Forces, pauses to collect himself as he shares his thoughts on his 9/11 experience at a remembrance ceremony, Sept. 11, 2013 at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia. "Ever since that sunny Tuesday morning life hasn’t been the same. The events that transpired that day will forever be etched in my very being." Grimes, a detective and 19-year veteran of the New York City Police Department, was one of many first responders at Ground Zero.
