  • Japanese cannon crewmembers from 1st Battalion, 4th Artillery Regiment, prepare and fire an FH-70—155mm Howitzer during Operation Rising Thunder 13 at Yakima Training Center Sept. 5. During this first day of combined training, units from 7th Infantry Division and the 16th Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force test-fired their howitzers and coordinated fires. The exercise, which is now in its 20th year, is designed to exercise and develop all war-fighting functions for both Japanese and U.S. forces.
