Fire team leaders pave way during Integrated Training Exercise

Lance Cpl. Jared Edwards, a rifleman serving with Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, talks to a role player acting as an Afghan National Army soldier during a mock raid during the battalion’s Integrated Training Exercise here, Aug. 12, 2013. Edwards, 21, from Arvada, Colo., speaks Pashtu, which enables him to communicate with the role players. The Marines will take a supporting role while deployed to Afghanistan as the Afghan National Army and the Afghan National Police continue to lead in combat operations. The ITX is a training exercise held at the combat center to prepare Marines for a combat deployment.
